We use the highest quality products and techniques to enrich the natural grain of your wood pieces. Our custom-blended stains (to your specifications) are skillfully applied by hand to maximize the beauty of your furniture
Our restoration process specializes in two types of finishes.
On all antiques we use the traditional French polishing method. Shellac applied in this manner is the museum-quality finish that your fine antiques require to increase their value.
We use the finest grade of lacquer available to ensure the protection and long life of your fine pieces. By allowing the multiple coats to propery cure duriing application, a durable, quality finish is stablished, adding depth and beatuy to your fine wood. Through this process, the finish is guaranteed water and alchohol resitant.
The final step in creating a masterpiece requires a hand-rubbed finish. Our careful attention to detail in this process assures a finished piece that is not only beatuful to the eye, but also to the touch.
If it is wood, we can repair it. Our craftsmen utilise techniques and materials which maintain the integrity and value of the piece. We fully guarantee all of our repairs.
Our craftsmen have been trained the fine art of anique restoration. Here at Thomas Furniture Restoration we use the same methods and products that many of our museum conservators require. The value of your antique will increase when properly restored.
If a piece requires stripping, we use a gentle, yet effective flow-over system. This system preserves the original patina (natural wood color) and prevents warping, damage to joints and irregularities in the grain that dip tanks and other methods can cause.
